We’re proud to share another milestone from our portfolio company Carbon Centric - its Rakkestad CO₂ capture plant is now FSSC 22000 certified by DNV, officially approved for the production of food-grade CO₂ 🍃

This means the plant can safely supply beverage-grade, traceable CO₂ for use in food and drink applications — a first for Norway and a major step in proving that circular, low-carbon production works in practice.

The Rakkestad facility captures up to 10,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually from waste-to-energy incineration and delivers high-quality recycled CO₂ for industrial use.

Building on this success, Carbon Centric is expanding across Norway with several new projects and targeting 1 million tonnes of capture capacity by 2030. Next up is the Kirkenær BECCS project, developed with Solör Bioenergi AB, aiming to capture 32,000 tonnes of biogenic CO₂ annually by 2028.

Watch the video footage on our LinkedIn for a glimpse of the Rakkestad facility - one of the world's first full-scale CO2 capture plants from waste-to-energy.
